On 26.10.2020 Facebook announced that it will join in Cloud Gaming. The service started in the US freely within existing Facebook Gaming in web browser and Android app.
Initially, the free service is only available in the USA, but other countries are to follow over time. As the social network writes in its own blog post, the company is interested in reaching more people.
Currently, Facebook Gaming is mainly used for mobile games, which no longer have to be installed locally on a smartphone or PC, but can be streamed directly from the official Facebook app via the internet.
Facebook does not want to replace consoles or PCs, but simply provide another option for gamers. Facebook initially wants to stick to free-to-play games that can be streamed. To refinance, these games use advertising and sometimes paid in-app purchases. Each game can be controlled with mouse and keyboard in addition to devices with touchscreens. In the future, Facebook could also make other types of video games available via internet in the Gaming tab or News Feed on Facebook in addition to mobile games.
Currently, users with a Facebook account can use the beta version of Cloud Gaming for free in the web browser or via the official Facebook app.
